Luxury Waterfront Villa in Anguilla: Private Sandy Cove and Caribbean Bliss

This story was produced in partnership with Kandara Villa.

ANGUILLA, The Caribbean - Do you fantasize about waking up in a spectacular villa with a dramatic staircase leading to your own private cove with baby soft sand and the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea?

Thought so.

More details, you say? Picture a stunning infinity pool, multiple terraces, panoramic sea views, and both total seclusion from and close proximity to supremely laid-back, top-notch dining and drinking destinations. Also, enough private and commons spaces to accommodate your favorite people.

It's all real. The 8,000 square-foot cliffside Kandara Villa sits on an acre of verdant land with tropical gardens and a front row seat to golden Caribbean sunsets. The private family home, now available for rent, has carved out a cozy cliffside destination on the West End of the tiny tropical island of Anguilla. An island, it should be mentioned, without cruise ship berths or casinos. An island where the beaches are pristine, the food is pioneering, and the locals are more than welcoming.

At a Glance

The Vibe: Epic island nirvana.

Standout Detail: Time stands still the moment you step onto the property. There's an endless supply of sunshine and sea from nearly every angle of the villa, and a private cove 30 steps down from the lawn.

Rooms: Six breezy, beautiful king bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms (stocked with robes and local organic toiletries) can easily accommodate twelve to sixteen overnight guests. Multiple terraces offer privacy and space for reading, exercising, working, and snapping photographs of the 360-degree unobstructed views of the island of St. Maarten.

On Site: There's a heated infinity pool and attached hot tub overlooking the sea, dramatic stair access to a private beach in a beautiful secluded cove, and incredible sunset views — what more could you want? How about a personal staff: The villa manager, 24/7 concierge, chef, and butler take care of daily housekeeping, turndown service, laundry, daily breakfast, and complimentary transfers to and from the airport or seaport. The manicured waterfront lawn works well for kids and pets at play, wedding ceremonies, and cocktail parties. The kitchen includes indoor/outdoor dining, a six-burner stove, wine fridge, and pre-stocked pantry items as you wish. The villa is happy to arrange a barbecue on the beach, a private chef for all meals (the island is home to some of the best chefs in all the Caribbean), babysitting services, or just about anything else guests may need.

Design: Greek island-inspired architecture, Turkish marble interiors, Balinese teak fixtures. Furnishings are chic but not precious — don't worry about sitting on the couch in your swimsuit.

This Place Is Perfect For: A killer friend trip, family reunion, or destination celebration for barefoot luxury enthusiasts.

What to Do Nearby

It may prove challenging to leave the compound. If you do, make it a trip to Blanchards Beach Shack for fish tacos and salads under colorful umbrellas. You can stay in your swim trunks while drinking wine and eating linguine with clams on the sand at Trattoria Tramonto (a two-minute drive or easy walk from the villa). Sundays are for SunShine Shack, a reggae beach bar with live music and a grill on the beach. For something a bit more upscale, Jacala offers French food on Mead's Bay, just a five-minute drive away. For late-afternoon or evening action, head to Bankie Banx Dune Preserve Beach Bar, everyone's favorite seaside spot for rum punch and live reggae in a driftwood bungalow.
