What's in a name? In the case of Hôtel Bienveue in Paris, it says it all: "Hotel welcome." One of hotelier Adrien Gloaguen's Touriste hotels (along with Hôtel Beaurepaire and Hôtel Panache), the pretty hotel on a tiny, one-lane street in the bustling and trendy ninth arrondissement is both a destination and a haven — and a remarkably affordable charmer. (Save your euros to spend at nearby Galleries Lafayette or in neighboring boutiques.) Gloaguen assembled a terrific creative team, starting with designer Chloé Negre, who sets the tone from the get-go with vintage seating reupholstered in poppy florals, geometric flooring, and wicker furniture (an unexpected tropical touch). This is her first hotel, and we hope it's not her last. A garden divides the two buildings that house the 38 guest rooms, and is itself a sweet oasis for working, eating, or just chilling.

Rooms: The 38 rooms are minimalist but warm, in muted, coordinated pastels — with wall colors, curtains, and headboard textiles in shades of robin's egg, seafoam, or rose — with lots of curves (in the headboard, light fixtures, bedside tables) and pops of contrasting color and happy florals in carpets, wallpaper, and sofas. Rooms are configured as singles, doubles, or quads, and are divided between two buildings. You'll want to steal the bath products by local maker Bonne Nouvelle (another what's-in-a-name company that translates as "good news").
Food + Drink: Le Bien Venu, hotel's restaurant overseen by chef Claire Blaizot and caterer Maori Murota, serves a Japanese-inspired French menu for lunch and dinner. Natural wines accompany dishes like hard-boiled egg with shiso mayonnaise; yuzu-garnished haddock carpaccio. Pastry chef Anaïs Olmer of Cafe Bogato makes the sweets and offers on-site workshops.
What to Do Nearby
The ninth arrondissement is hopping. The big department stores (they're a thing in Paris) a few block away are Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, but don't miss the small boutiques along rue Henry Monnier and rue Notre Dame de Lorette. When you get hungry, stroll rue des Martys and order one of everything that looks tasty. When you want a shot of très Parisian culture, you'll get it on a tour of or a show at Opera Garnier, one of the beautiful city's most beautiful landmarks.
