The Meadows Hotel – A Historic Boutique Retreat in Fulton, KY
The Meadows Hotel stands as a proud landmark in Fulton, KY, having graced the city skyline since 1901.
Location:
101 Commercial Ave., Fulton, KY 42050
The origins of The Meadows Hotel trace back to 1898, when entrepreneur W. W. Meadows began constructing the original Meadows building. The structure—a half‑block span—housed retail shops on the ground floor and a fine hotel above. The hotel opened to great fanfare in January 1900, quickly becoming the premier accommodation for railroad travelers.
Tragedy struck on December 1, 1900, when a fire razed the original block. Undeterred, Mr. Meadows promptly initiated a new construction project, delivering a three‑story, full‑block hotel in September 1901. This new facility featured 100 rooms and became a local icon of hospitality.
After Mr. Meadows’ passing in 1914, the property changed hands and was renamed the Southern Hotel in 1925. In the harsh winter of 1933, the largest fire in Fulton’s history devastated the building, leaving only the core that survives today.
In February 2016, lifelong resident Jeff Campbell acquired the property and led a comprehensive reconstruction that revitalized The Meadows Hotel. Today, it operates as a historic boutique hotel with 14 thoughtfully appointed guest rooms, blending legacy with modern comfort.
We invite you to experience the storied elegance of The Meadows, where history meets contemporary hospitality.
