From USC to NYC Skyscrapers: My Exciting Travelzoo Internship Adventure
Hi, I’m Savannah, a Travelzoo intern.
My passion for travel and search for a summer internship led to two thrilling options: volunteering in a rural Rwanda village or working on the 37th floor of a New York City high-rise. An adventure either way.
A few months, flights, and subway rides later, I’m proudly sharing this from Travelzoo’s Manhattan headquarters. Instead of river laundry and village meals, I’m interning in the marketing department—saving for the laundromat while discovering NYC’s best bagels and cheesecake.
Born in Austin, studying at USC’s Marshall School of Business in Los Angeles, and now working in New York City, I’ve thrived in urban environments. But I’ve also embraced rugged adventures: a 28-day camping trek from Texas to Montana, a week navigating Mandarin-speaking taxis and hiking the Great Wall in Shanghai and Beijing, and a 21-hour drive across Texas plains to deliver my Prius to LA.
Note to self: Never run out of gas in rural Texas. My dad and I learned that lesson firsthand.
Having explored much of the world, I’m eager to discover more—from my desk at Travelzoo. As I navigate NYC’s subways and share food pics on Snapchat, I want to inspire your travel passion too.
