Lake Charles Civic Ballet presents Christmas in Louisiana: Once Upon a Time
December 12-14, 2019
For a heartfelt local twist, Lake Charles Civic Ballet presents the original Christmas in Louisiana: Once Upon a Time. Narrated by Santa, this one-hour ballet weaves Southwest Louisiana history with relatable tales from his visits through the ages.
Choreographed and scripted 15 years ago by the late Lady Leah and current Director Lady Holly Hathaway Kaough, it features refreshed scenes and costumes. Dancers aged 3 to high school, plus guest roles from the St. Nicholas Center, perform ballet and tap to classical music. Local artist and Technical Director Fred Stark painted the backdrops. A unique blend of education, history, and Christmas enchantment.

Sarah Quinn Jones Ballet presents Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker
December 30, 2019
Local talent meets world-class pros as Sarah Quinn Jones Ballet joins Moscow Ballet’s touring company—one of three national groups she’s coordinated since 1996. Selected young dancers from auditions rehearse intensely to perform alongside professionals just before showtime.
This Nutcracker dazzles with unique sets, puppetry, humor, and athleticism set to Tchaikovsky’s score, evoking a fantasy realm. The New York Times called it a “hot ticket.” Other Louisiana stops include Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Monroe, and New Orleans. A rare opportunity right here in Lake Charles!
