Discover The Village Coffeehouse: A Charming Community Hub in Downtown Sulphur
As a coffee enthusiast, I was thrilled to visit The Village Coffeehouse upon its opening in downtown Sulphur. Joined by my colleague Kathryn, a talented photographer, we explored this promising new spot together.
Located at the corner of Hwy. 90 and Huntington St., The Village Coffeehouse stands as a welcoming beacon in downtown Sulphur. Its striking black-and-white exterior and interior offer a chic, clean aesthetic that's both modern and inviting, reminiscent of a cozy kitchen designed for conversation.

The elegant corner door with leaded glass welcomes visitors inside. Overhead, the restored white pressed-metal ceiling and underfoot, the original 1918 white tile floors transport you back in time. Everything has been meticulously restored to its historic glory, complemented by exposed brick walls contrasting with fresh sheetrock and neatly trimmed street-facing windows.

Owner Blake shared the coffeehouse's vision: fostering community connections. He highlighted the long, wooden family-style table at the center, handcrafted by barista Josh Harris of Wood Intentions, ideal for trivia nights and gatherings. A vase of colorful flowers and patron-donated board games enhance the communal vibe.

The polished logo, designed by a local graphic artist, features olive branches symbolizing peace and unity—a perfect emblem for this local gem, not a franchise.

The menu boasts diverse options: specialty brews, smoothies, signature coffees, scones, muffins, sandwiches, and soups. I enjoyed a turkey sandwich and cold brew, while Kathryn savored a blueberry scone. We relaxed in the antique corner on a leather sofa beside a marble-topped table. Thoughtfully, they offer a 'name your price' option for house brew and bacon cheddar scone, ensuring accessibility for all.

Upcoming features include a drive-through window, outdoor patio, live music platform, and potential farmers' market support as cooler weather arrives.
Our visit extended to strolling downtown Sulphur, chatting with shop owners like Abby McMurry Ferguson at Etie’s, A Children’s Shoppe, who shares excitement for this community booster. The Village Coffeehouse is a must-visit for coffee, meals, and genuine connections.
