Discover Fine Dining in Ascot and Hamilton: A Premier Culinary Experience

For fine, sophisticated entertaining, the Ascot-Hamilton precinct is hard to beat. The tree-lined streets, with a backdrop of charming homes, lead to some of the best dining venues in the city precincts. From French cuisine to sumptuous Mediterranean delights, the area has it all.

Central to the precinct is Racecourse Rd, home of the thoroughbred racing scene, good-food lovers and the fashion-conscious.  Here you will find Baguette Bistrot + Bar – a favourite Brisbane restaurant for those in the know. It specialises in regional French bistro food.  Baguette’s lounge bar also has an interesting selection of wine, cider, craft beer and cocktails.

Trendy cafes on Racecourse Rd also offer a cosy and welcoming atmosphere, and among them is Lido Café Restaurant, with its offerings of wood-fired pizzas and other mains. The Vanilla Pod, in Lancaster Rd, has a wide range of specialty cakes, cheeses, gourmet foods, and fine chocolates. It also is a favourite with locals for breakfast, lunch or coffee.

Towards the river, Portside Wharf Cruise Terminal, Hamilton, sits among trendy riverside apartments and is a welcome port for world-class restaurants, gourmet delights, designer fashion, weekend markets and an art-house cinema.

Overlooking the Brisbane River, Byblos Bar & Restaurant serves up imaginative Mediterranean cuisine, presented with its signature hospitality and warmth. The glamorous Phoenician-themed bar and lounge stocks an extensive line-up of beer, wine and cocktails.

If you want a modern, yet traditional, Japanese experience, immerse yourself in Sono. The restaurant is a haven of calming neutral tones, tranquil water and bamboo features, blended with a mixture of textures and colours in a spacious dining area. Boasting exquisite views of the Brisbane River, Sono provides a sophisticated and unique dining experience.

For more casual dining at Portside, Cruisers Café Bar & Grill, and Gusto da Gianni are great options, as is the Northshore Riverside Café with its servings of stunning river views and delicious meals.

Filled with a buzzing atmosphere, the Eat Street Markets – located next to Portside Wharf – are held every Friday and Saturday evening from 4pm to 10pm. Eat Street offers a casual dining experience with more than 50 shipping containers specially reconfigured as mini-restaurants, bars, galleries and produce stores for a cheap night out.
