Today, the park offers a family‑friendly escape with boating, fishing, swimming, and abundant wildlife. The marshy ecosystem is rare in Eastern Kentucky, supporting wood ducks, great blue and green herons, ruffed grouse, bobwhite, wild turkey, red‑winged blackbirds, warblers, raccoons, and striped skunks.
