Carr Creek State Park – Family‑Friendly Water Adventures in Eastern Kentucky

Location:

2086 Smithboro Rd., HWY 15, Sassafras, KY 41759

Carr Creek Lake was once home to some of the area's earliest pioneer settlements as early as the 1770s. Today, the park offers a family‑friendly escape with boating, fishing, swimming, and abundant wildlife. The marshy ecosystem is rare in Eastern Kentucky, supporting wood ducks, great blue and green herons, ruffed grouse, bobwhite, wild turkey, red‑winged blackbirds, warblers, raccoons, and striped skunks.
