The Artisans Village, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization was created in 2015 to advance the visual arts to strengthen the economy and enhance the quality of life in Lake Country. The Artisans Village operates a non-profit art gallery designed to provide an affordable outlet for area artists to market their work and has recently renovated a historic building to create an active artisans’ community. For a reduced cost of studio space, we hope to encourage artists to demonstrate their skills for tourists to view.

The Artisans Village is comprised of three main pillars under the overarching umbrella of the Artisans Village non-profit organization.
GALLERY –  The Artisan Village Art Gallery is located on the square across from the courthouse in downtown Eatonton.
GUILD – The Artisans Village Guild is a group of over 130 artists from Lake Country and beyond who meet on a regular basis.  Interested in joining?  Feel free to attend one of our monthly meetings to learn more and meet fellow artisans.  Visit our website for details and online registration.
STUDIO – The Artisans Village Studio: Work is almost complete on the renovation of the livery stables so that they can be used as artist studios with live demonstrations.

  • Exploring the Forbidden Village: Journey Through Myanmar’s Naga Hills

It’s December in north-western Myanmar and I’m travelling upriver in a soupy pre-dawn fog. A Stygian realm of uncertain edges and amplified sounds; lights blur in the formless gloom, water plashes against the bow. As night smudges to day, the sharp serrations of the Naga Hills take form to the north, white towers of cloud toppling off their peaks. After a month of motorcycling solo across the Indian state of Nagaland I’m heading for Myanmar’s Naga Self-Administered Zone, a jagged seam of mou
