Many rare artifacts traveled with the Institute of Paper, Science, and Technology from Appleton, WI, to Atlanta, GA, and are now part of a permanent collection tracing the fascinating history of papermaking from its earliest antecedents to the advanced technology of today -- from ancient Sumerian cuneiform tablets to the exquisite chiaroscuro watermarked papers still made in Fabriano, a well-known papermaking center in the Marches region of Italy.

The museum's critically acclaimed changing exhibition gallery showcases various interpretations and uses of paper as a viable and diverse medium by hosting exhibitions by contemporary artists working in the allied fields of paper, printmaking, and book arts.
