Northeast Georgia Mountains Clarkesville Come Tour Melon Head Farm, a boutique farm located conveniently close to Clarkesville Georgia. Our small family farm practices chemical free and sustainable farming practices. From seed to harvest, we show how to grow the most delicious heirloom produce, as well as pasture raised lamb. Our customers enjoy a large variety of seasonal produce from Artichokes to Watermelons. The tour shows how a passive solar greenhouse operates for seed starts, hoop house for growing all year, importance of weed suppression, crop rotation and cover crop. Growing is just a part of the tour; we also dive into the walk in cooler and why it is so important for fresh produce.

By this time a tomato sandwich is starting to sound great, but we still need to see the sheep. You will enjoy an up close visit with our flock of Katahdin Sheep. What no wool? That's right, these are a special breed of hair sheep that is better suited for the heat of the south. 

By this time your stomach is craving a fresh cantaloupe and that is why you should bring a cooler. Based on the season we have a variety of produce available once the tour is over. Your will enjoy the Tour more if you are adequately prepared: Boots, Coolers, Rain Gear(Just in Case)and sorry but no pets. As this is a working livestock farm we cannot allow pets on property for their own safety.
