Bassin Bleu: Haiti's Stunning Cobalt-Blue Pools and Waterfalls Near Jacmel

Nestled in the mountains 12 km northwest of Jacmel, Bassin Bleu boasts three cobalt-blue pools connected by waterfalls, creating one of Haiti's most breathtaking natural swimming spots. Tours with Experience Jacmel include a moto-taxi ride to a nearby hamlet, followed by a local guide leading you down a rugged path—complete with a thrilling rappel down a rock face—to these idyllic pools, where children often dive from lofty heights.
The pools are Bassin Clair, Bassin Bleu, and Bassin Palmiste. Bassin Clair is the standout gem, tucked deep within the mountain at the base of a waterfall, shielded by smooth rocks covered in maidenhair ferns and creepers. Local legends tell of nymphs in the grottoes who may playfully snag divers exploring the pool's depths, though sightings are rare.
Bassin Bleu's mineral-rich waters are inviting year-round, but they can turn muddy brown after heavy rains.
