White County Chamber of Commerce & Welcome Center – Historic 1901 Jail, Your Gateway to Northeast Georgia
The historic 1901 White County Jail, now home to the White County Chamber of Commerce & Welcome Center, stands proudly just north of Cleveland’s courthouse square. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, this two‑story brick Italianate structure offers a unique blend of heritage and hospitality.
Our welcoming staff are ready to guide visitors and residents alike through the attractions of Cleveland, Helen, Sautee‑Nacoochee, and the surrounding White County. We provide brochures, maps, and tailored guides to help you explore the region, plan tours, or settle into the area. The original jail housed the jailer and his family on the first floor, while the second floor accommodated inmates. Today, the space serves as a vibrant hub for business, tourism, and community events.
