Cirque du Soleil Guide: Best Shows to See and Optimal Seating | Travelzoo Expert Tips

Cirque du Soleil has captivated audiences worldwide for over 30 years, entertaining more than 155 million people with its imaginative, mesmerizing productions. As a Travelzoo Cirque du Soleil Deal Expert with years of experience reviewing shows and deals, I'm here to guide you through the options, helping you choose the perfect performance.

Cirque du Soleil offers two main show types: resident and touring. Resident shows, like "Mystère" in Las Vegas and the former "La Nouba" in Orlando, run continuously for years in fixed venues. For a full guide to Las Vegas resident shows, click here. Prefer a show near you? Read on for touring details.

Touring shows travel globally, with new productions launching and others retiring—check Travelzoo frequently for exclusive deals. They fall into two categories: Big Top and Arena.

Big Top Shows

Big Top shows perform under the iconic Grand Chapiteau, the signature yellow-and-blue-striped tent. These productions deliver massive scale: grand production values, thrilling entertainment, and an immersive experience.

The Grand Chapiteau functions as a complete mobile village, including the performance venue, kitchen, school, rehearsal spaces, and crew accommodations.

Fun fact: Erecting the site takes about eight days, with three days to dismantle. It requires 50-75 trucks to transport over 1,300 tons of equipment. Consequently, shows typically stay in one city for 1-3 months.

Watch this behind-the-scenes video on the touring life of "Kurios – Cabinet of Curiosities," the latest Big Top production.

Excited for a nearby show? All seats in the 2,500+ capacity venue feel intimate, with action unfolding in the round from every angle. Seats are divided by Price Levels: Premium and Level 1 offer the best views, followed by Level 2 and beyond.

Your ideal spot depends on preference—front-row immersion or a broader vista? I recommend the front row of the 200 Level for proximity to the action while enjoying overhead spectacles. Arrive early: pre-show characters mingle with the crowd for added magic.

Arena Shows

Arena shows utilize stadium venues, enabling quicker setups and broader reach—from major cities like New York to smaller markets like North Little Rock, Arkansas.

These run for short periods (a weekend to two weeks), so act fast. Many are adapted from Big Top hits, like "Ovo," which toured Big Tops starting in 2009 and returns to North American arenas in 2025. Others are new, such as "TORUK – The First Flight," inspired by Avatar.
