Villa del Palmar at the Beach & Villas Resort, Loreto: A Serene Escape on the Sea of Cortez
Villa del Palmar at the Beach & Villas Resort, Loreto: Expert Review
As seasoned Mexico travelers who frequently visit destinations like Barra de Navidad, we recently discovered the hidden gem of Loreto.
Nestled along the pristine azure waters of the Sea of Cortez in Baja California, Loreto lies about 150 miles north of La Paz. This UNESCO World Heritage Site biosphere reserve is renowned for snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, and island hopping. Home to 891 fish species and 695 vascular plants, it offers unparalleled exploration opportunities both above and below the water.
During our three-night stay, we experienced the luxurious and tranquil Villa del Palmar, located just a 30-minute drive from Loreto International Airport.
Getting to Loreto, Mexico
Loreto is easily accessible via a two-hour flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Villa del Palmar provides complimentary shuttle service or VIP transportation in air-conditioned SUVs. We were promptly transferred to the resort upon clearing customs at the compact Loreto Airport.
Top Activities in Loreto
Beyond relaxing at the resort's iconic turtle-shaped pool, guests can embark on boat tours to Isla Coronado for world-class snorkeling, rent kayaks from the beach kiosk, or try stand-up paddleboarding.

We joined a guided kayaking excursion from the resort to a secluded cove, ideal for spotting sea turtles—our guide noted six large turtles there days earlier. With crystal-clear waters and privacy, it was a highlight.

The day concluded with rejuvenating treatments at the Sabila Spa.
