Taste Washington: Savor Premium Wines from 225+ Wineries & Rockstar Female Chefs
The countdown is on for THE wine and food event of the year, Taste Washington.
Attendees have come to expect a wonderland of wine offerings at this annual event. Over 700 types of wine from more than 225 Washington wineries will be poured during the Grand Tasting, April 2-3 – including the best Washington has to offer. And, this year will be no different. During the two days of tastings at CenturyLink Field Event Center, plan to swirl, sniff and sip your way through some of the top wines produced in the US.

There is never any doubt that Taste Washington guests will walk away satisfied with the volume and quality of varietals to choose from. What surprises most first-timers, however, is the caliber of food they get to enjoy as they sip. Some of the region’s top restaurants will be crafting perfect bites to pair with the reds, white and rosés of their wine-making friends. This year, for the first time, attendees get to play judge and cast their vote for Taste Washington’s Best Bite by placing designated corks in the vase of their favorite restaurant. This friendly competition is sure to elevate the already spectacular food offerings.
And, if that’s not enough reason to snag a pair of tickets now, the line-up on the Alaska Airlines Chef’s Stage certainly is. It’s the perfect storm of female chef star power. Aarti Sequeria, who took home the title of The Next Food Network Star and is now host of Aarti Party on the same network, will be charming the crowds and filling their bellies with delightful Indian fare. Meanwhile, Portland’s Chef Jenn Louis of Lincoln and Sunshine Tavern (one of Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs 2012) will be on stage showing the audience why her food is described as soul-satisfying – and letting them taste it for themselves.

Last but not least in the lineup is Seattle’s own Executive Chef Sarah Scott from El Gaucho Bellevue, one of the only female steakhouse chefs in the nation. She runs her kitchen like a boss and will be pairing up with the crew from Stella Artois to pair mouth-watering morsels with tasty brews.
Another chance to mingle with rockstar female chefs is at Taste Washington on the Farm – the perfect excuse as an adult to go on a field trip during the day. While all of the adult ‘field trips’ have prestigious lineups, the Urban Farming excursion in particular features Maria Hines (Tilth, Agrodolce, Golden Beetle), Tamara Murphy (Terra Plata) and Amy Pennington (author of Urban Pantry: Tips and Recipes for a Thrifty, Sustainable and Seasonal Kitchen, Apartment Gardening, Apples from Harvest to Table, and Fresh Pantry). These powerhouse women will be speaking about the importance of urban farming andthe farm-to-table movement, while pairing dishes with Elsom & Kerloo Cellars.
