When to Shell?
Shelling is optimal at low tide or within 48 hours after rough weather stirs up the waves. View the tide chart for the Lake Charles area.
Where to Shell?
All beaches along the Creole Nature Trail offer excellent shelling, but those west of Holly Beach on the Gulf yield the best finds due to lower foot traffic. Search where waves are breaking now and along high-tide lines—the Gulf reveals its treasures as tides recede.
