Your Guide to the Best Mango Eats in Brisbane This Summer

Brisbanites loooove mangoes. We love cutting the edges off and dicing up the flesh to reveal the perfect squares of juicy goodness that are only on offer for a few months each year.

We love adding mangoes to our smoothies, our breakfasts, our salads and our desserts – heck, we even want them in our drinks (read: daiquiris). When those first mangoes of the season reach the shelves (and our Instagram feeds), this is where to go to eat and drink mango everything in Brisbane.

Mango froyo

Anything frozen in summer is a win, so a frozen combination of mango and yoghurt is a win-win. Self-serve the dessert at Tutti Frutti at Westfield Garden City, Nominom at Brisbane City and Berry Me froyo bars across multiple Brisbane locations.

Mango smoothies

We seldom pass up a mango smoothie if it presents itself on the menu. Some of the best whipped-up delights can be found in the city at The Pantry, Raw Energy, Thr1ve and Oasis Juice Bar in the mall. Further afield you can find Charlie’s Raw Squeeze juice bars across multiple Brisbane locations as well as iJuice Bar in Stones Corner, Quench in James Street and Juice Energy in Brunswick Street Fortitude Valley.

Pineapple Express Superfood Café at Portside and James St also does a mango muscles smoothie mixing protein with the zesty goodness, passionfruit, coyo icecream, chia and coconut water.

Mango bowls

Mango is the new acai. Satori Organics at Sandgate mixes fresh orange mango flesh with banana and coconut for its coconut bowl, and Acai Brothers at Paddington, Redliffe, Kenmore and Chermside make a Mango Madness Bowl with acai, mango, coconut yoghurt and mango sauce.

Mango trifle

When it’s time to treat yourself this summer, you can’t go past the mango trifle at Jocelyn's Provisions. This bowl of heaven is full of soft pillow like layers separated with fresh mango goodness...yes, mango goodness.

Mango ice-cream and sorbet

Nothing screams summer in Brisbane more than a fast-melting mango ice-cream. Get the goods by the scoop at Gelatissimo, in Brisbane City, Gelare at South Bank, Gelato Messina at South Brisbane, La Macelleria at Teneriffe, West End and Coorparoo Square and Lick! Ice Cream in Morningside, Graceville and Coopers Plains.

For something extra special make your way to Eat Street and get a mango soft serve salad from Double Good. Delicious Queensland mangoes filled with mango gelato finished off with mango coulis and wafers.

Mango cocktails

Pull up a stool at Spice Den in the city the boast a mango cocktail that packs a flavour punch to the face. Darling and Co in Paddington do a mango bellini which is refreshing and bright while Limes Hotel Rooftop Bar serves a spiced nights rum cocktail with mango deliciousness.

Mango chocolate

Oh yeah, it’s a thing. And it’s damn fine. Brissy’s favourite chocolate grocer Noosa Chocolate Factory take the nectar from the finest Bowen mangoes for its mango chocolate-covered macadamias and mango chocolate blocks. It’s the texture of white chocolate with a perfect mango tang.

Mango beer

The greatest mango of all time is from Brisbane – the Milton mango (that’s a XXXX Gold, if you’re really wondering). We’re half kidding. Founders’ Mango Magnifico con Calor is a regular on-tap beer at Brisbane Brewing Co in West End and Matso’s Mango Beer comes by the bottle at various Matso stockists across Brisbane, including Archive Beer Boutique in West End and Brewhouse and the German Club in Woolloongabba.

Mango curry

The ultimate mix of sweet and savoury comes to fruition in the Mango Chicken dishes at Indian restaurants across Brisbane, but our favourite is at It’s Mirchi in Bulimba and Paddington. You can even pop a mango pickle on the side.

Mango salad

Alright – we’ve saved the best to last. Our friends at Longtime in Fortitude Valley have perfected the Thai green mango salad and they’ve even thrown in some grilled pork, dill and mint, and topped it off with orange nahm jim sauce for good measure. Get to it.
