Brisbane’s Premier Dessert Destinations

If you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth – this is the right place. We may be bias, but we’re going to call it and say Brisbane boasts some of the world’s most delectable dessert bars. Let’s face it, dessert is unanimously the best part of every meal, so we have put together our top picks for jaw-dropping sweet restaurants around Brisbane.

Chester Street Bar & Bakery, Newstead

Brisbane’s Premier Dessert Destinations

Chester Street Bar and Bakery is the fourth and sweetest venture from Damian Griffiths (restaurant extraordinaire and founder of Brisbane’s Limes Hotel, Alfred & Constance and Alfredo’s Pizzeria). Nestled behind a white picket fence, with a striking blue tiled wood-fired bread oven, Chester Street transforms from a bakery by day to a bar by night. Wrap your taste buds around a Nutella pizza with caramelised banana and toasted marshmallow, the honeycomb parfait with brownie and warm chocolate sauce, or waffles with candied bacon and maple syrup ice cream.

Whisky Business, Redlands

Brisbane’s Premier Dessert Destinations

Now these are no ordinary macaroons. Some would say they are the ‘singing in your jocks & aviators’ kind of delicious, the Tom Cruise of macaroons. Whisky Business makes some of the city’s most flavoursome macaroons. Not only does owner Kylie Baker whisk up a flavour smorgasbord of regular macaroons, she also introduced the ‘mega mac’, which are more than double the size and, we believe, double the deliciousness. Whisky Business offers an all-day brunch menu with an abundance of other sweet treats on offer. New macaron flavours are always being trialed but flavour suggestions are welcomed.

Dello Mano, Teneriffe

Brisbane’s Premier Dessert Destinations

From one celebrity to another, it is reported that A-list actor Ashton Kutcher had a box of Brisbane’s Dello Mano brownies flown from Brisbane to Paris for his birthday. Frankly, we don’t blame him. These luxury brownies are crafted from a special family recipe, wrapped in hand made packaging and are certainly worth flying across the world for. Originating from a small market stall, Dello Mano is a family business created by Deborah & Bien Peralta. Their passion for brownies, chocolate treats and gourmet gifts is what makes these famous brownies sought after locally, nationally and with VIPs across the globe.

Cowch, South Bank

Brisbane’s Premier Dessert Destinations

Queensland’s first dessert and cocktail bar is guaranteed to set a few tongues wagging. Open for breakfast, lunch and most importantly dessert, this ambient sweet haven is filled with contemporary décor and lit by bulbs in the shape of udders and milk bottles. Sip on a Cowch signature cocktail or indulge in one Cowch’s guilty pleasures (we can’t get past the Naked Pops). With over 20 frozen yogurt flavours there is one for every occasion.  Locals tip: try sweetening your morning with a champagne brunch available from 10am-2pm on the weekends.

Bacchus, South Bank

Brisbane’s Premier Dessert Destinations

We all have at least one friend who prefers to eat dessert first. Bacchus agrees, and can offer something even better. Why not skip all other meals and enjoy five desserts? Bacchus’ delectable degustation provides diners with exactly that – a five-course journey through the senses, created by head chef Mark Penna together with pastry chef Tammy Cole. For nutritional purposes Bacchus has kindly included something from every food group. There is fruit in the raspberry panacotta, hazelnut mousse ticks the protein box, buttermilk ice-cream satisfies the dairy fix, sticky-date pudding for the carbs and the mouth-watering list goes on. Drooling yet? For only a little extra try matching the degustation with a flight of wines or the chef’s private selection of cheeses.
