Tlatlauquitepec – Puebla’s Enchanting Mountain Garden
On the one hand, Tlatlauquitepec presents one of its most relaxing facets with walks through its beautiful historic center adorned by beautiful colonial buildings and hotels that invite you to stay more than a weekend.
In addition to walking around its beautiful Plaza de Armas or visiting El Santuario del Señor de Huaxtla (Sanctuary of the Lord of Huaxtla), it is also advisable to visit the traditional tianguis ( flea market) that is set up on weekends offering handicrafts made of baskets, carved wood or wool fabrics.
It is worth mentioning the delicious gastronomy such as the mushroom mole, the typical Mazatepec meats smoked with oak and citric tree wood, tlacoyos stuffed with alverjón that may well be accompanied by the regional liquor: yolixpa, made from herbs.
This destination focuses on adventure tourism, where many explorers at heart mark it on their maps to conquer Cerro Cabezón. Here you can practice a lot of outdoor sports activities or visit La Cueva del Tigre, an impressive rock formation to admire in its interior stalagmites and stalactites. Definitely Tlatlauqui, as it is affectionately called, is full of endless possibilities for those who like a sub-humid climate coming from the surrounding forest areas.
