Miami Beach, Barbados: A Serene Hidden Gem for Swimming and Relaxation

Discover Miami Beach, a tranquil hidden gem in Barbados that stands in stark contrast to its vibrant American counterpart. This small, shaded, and intimate spot offers a peaceful escape from the bustling south coast.
Divided by a natural rock breakwater, the beach features two distinct areas. The west side boasts some of the island's best swimming conditions with deep, calm, crystal-clear waters. The east side provides a spacious recreation zone with picnic tables nestled under shady evergreen pines and almond trees.
Originally, there was no beach here—the sea met the road directly. The construction of a breakwater by the coast guard trapped soft white sand on both sides, creating this idyllic stretch. Since the coast guard's departure, the area has remained blissfully undeveloped.
Officially known as Enterprise Beach on maps, locals affectionately call it Miami Beach. It draws crowds on weekends but stays quiet during the week. Keep an eye out for Mr. Delicious, a popular vendor offering rum punch and delicious fish cutters (sandwiches).
To reach it on foot, follow the path past the police station south of the Oistins Fish Fry. By car, take the small road toward South Point Lighthouse from Oistins, then loop back west to the beach.
